There are plenty of things that God needs to save, that is, if there is a big, hairy old thing somewhere in the sky known as God. I would hope that he/she/it will begin by saving the crumbling US dollar and hopefully the future of the planet too by getting rid of the goddamn Bush administration. Incidentally, London’s The Clientele wants to be saved as well and they have titled their new album as such. This is their third proper album and it follows them downstream from where they last left off in 2005. God Save is a concise fourteen songs in forty four minutes of gentle, mildly psychedelic pop music.

Right now it’s all about the tiger
True story: Bryan Adams once told me that, “the song (Summer of ‘69) has nothing to do with the year 1969, it’s a metaphor for summer love and the number 69 was chosen because of the sexual position.” I think even Ryan Adams would appreciate that.
Ryan Adams is set to release the album Easy Tiger on June 26th.

Rocky’s fifth album = Rocky V
This new banjo-heavy Rocky song is quite lovely. I just listened to it 5 times in a row. The new album (out June 19th) is called The Brag & Cuss and features James McAllister (Sufjan Stevens) on drums, Bill Herzog (Jesse Sykes) on bass, Casey Foubert (Pedro the Lion) on electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and percussion, and Rick Steff on Hammond b3, piano and accordion.
