From the Archives: Phillippe Coullette IV reviews Club 8

It was snowing softly again and my Citroen DS sped through the streets of Paris. I was riding extremely long and low, with the scent of champagne coloring my breath. I haven't seen snow in Paris for 2 or 3 years, maybe more. Usually I winter elsewhere, and only fly in on the odd day.

Fischerspooner Video

Fischerspooner, along with The Music and The Vines have posted new videos on Real.com, which proclaims them "the next". The next what, they don't say, but it probably has something to do with the next marketing hype that goes nowhere. Still, if there's one thing Fischerspooner know how to do it's unintentionally-intentional funny videos. Self-Self-Parody at its finest.

Rock on! With Chaz Bartok

What the hell was going on with USOUNDS last week? Soft Rock?! Soft cock is more like it. For those of us who actually rock for real, and not in a way that could ever even remotely be construed as "soft", this is a sweet and fresh downloadable track for you from one of my closest personal friends, Mr. John Osbourne (known as OZZY to the average fan). Although Ozzy hasn't been in touch since our night of wildness in Cincy in '87, I know that he learned a lot from me and my party techniques, and holds me in high esteem.

Softrockin' mp3 of the day from Rory Michael Ganders

This is THE song to listen to when you're in that softrockin' mood, when you just can't take it no more and you slam the door and let your feathered hair feel the cool night breeze, unsure of what's going to happen next, but positive you'll be softrockin' all night long.

Talib Kweli "Quality" reviewd by Clarence Baxter, Revolutionary

Brothers! Sisters! Comrades! The revolution is here, so get up off your feet, get in the street, and let the music play!

I'm a revolutionary, and my crew of international soundbombers travels the world exposing people to the world beyond the tyranny of top 40, the oppression of old sounds, the rotting corpse of corporate control...

I'm a revolutionary, but I'm also an American.

From the Archives: Lance F. Rockaway reviews Smith and Mighty

The fetid city steam of Paris, London and Berlin was at last behind me. The pressed flesh packed into underground trains, the sullen stares of broken people, the carefully ordered streets... all of it was lost to the sea breeze in my new location.

StarTime International mp3s from The Walkmen, Salako, More

StarTime Int'l is one of our favorite labels, and today we would like to point you in their general direction. Check out their new releases, plus mp3s from Salako, French Kicks, The Walkmen and The Joggers.

Correspondant Lance F. Rockaway writes from Munich: "spent the night in the Englischer Garten, listening to mp3s from the StarTime Int'l website... people were moving across my vision like ghosts as a crew of randy Lithuanian girls danced in the moonlight." OK, Lance, sounds good...

PleasureBeach mp3 Reviewed by Chaz Bartok

People say I'm old, wasted, passed out in a couch in an alley behind a bar with dried puke on my leather jacket and they're right, that is me. But at the same time I know my shit and I can kick the shit out of you, so say what you want, punk.

Here's an mp3 and music video from PleasureBeach (pronounced pleasure, bitch), a band that knows how to rock in the original rocking way, no new-style rocking here, just old skool rocking with organs, guitar solos, snarls and fake (except real) english accents.
