Im glad to see everyone enjoyed the video. I worked on it for 5 weeks and I’m in the process of making a “making of…” which will be more eye opening than the video. Directed by Chris Hopewell his vision was realised.

Although I do love Radiohead I must say that the video looks completely like Bjork’s Human Behaviour (am I missing the point?). And another thing: the end of the video is a rather obvious quote from Tomasz Baginski “Cathedral” – short animated Oscar nominated (2003) movie.
But that’s just me. The video BTW is awesome
Very contemporary visual gendre. Rich in metaphors too. When will we see “the making of…”?
Yes. I shot digital backplates for many of the scenes aswell as hundreds of trees that were comped together to make the forest. also I advised them to use digital stills cameras (Nikon D100) for the stop motion animation. Its rather funny that aardman animation has been toying with this idea for a year or so and we just said “bollocks” and done it. The making of video is sort of complete, I just need to film people talking about the vid etc. Dont realy know what it’s gonna be used for, I think The Head may want to use it on a DVD in the future.
The look of the video was influenced by Jan Svankmajer and the process is similar (and may of the crew members) to The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb. When the Making Of come out you should check out how the Legs Leaping shots were done. MADNESS!
We have all had a good laugh on what some people have thought the video means eg. Thom is ment to be a bear. The way he walks and he’s wearing brown etc. etc. WTF? Its just a fairytail. (Filmed in “wankers woods” failand bristol)

JD I love this video! Ranks right up there with Radiohead’s “Street Spirit” video. Some of the cinematography reminds me of an old “B” movie called, “Clash of the Titans” Thom looks like the Kraken when he is looking over that picnic table at all the animals sitting down for something to eat. It’s a really well done video with a good story line & some humourous scenes thrown in. Thanks for allowing us to download it. RADIOHEAD FOREVER! A+

The plot gets thicker! Up for 4 MTV video awards! We have to send the collision films crew via ship so we are dressing up a bonobo chimps and shipping by sea cargo. So if we win an award there will be a troop of monkeys rushing the stage to eat their awards! :()
Jan Svankmajer to say the least. Alice in Wonderland, anyone (any director??) Not to mention Svankmajer’s esteemed students the Brother’s Quay.
And whoever mentioned Bjork’s human behavior – SPOT ON.
Thom seemed extremely effected in his performance, and the directorial queues were a bit too obvious. I had hoped for something original from Radiohead. I was disappointed.
Hey does anyone know what software/hardware was used to make the effects ‘There, there’ ?
combustion was used to do the compositing and a bit of after effects alot of droped frames and loads of grading to make it look scuzzy. Dave Lea and Jon Williams done a great job! Its was shot on digi beta (the rushes looked so different to the final cut. combustion’s good but im used to AE so the layout is a bit confusing but i’ll get there. Thurs 28th August MTV 8.00pm EST.(Sat 30th August MTV uk 8.00pm GMT) keep an key out 4 us if your watching. Got to sort out my BLING 😉 http://www.collisionfilms.com
Congratulations on the MTV VM award for Best Art Direction. It deserved a few more but good to get the recognition/exposure from the music industry and press. I’ve only seen the video in the tiny Quicktime format I was able to download here at usounds.com.
I’d love to know where I could purchase a full resolution version of the video and the making of as soon as it’s available.

Buy the new Radiohead single “punch up at a wedding” there will be a sneak peak of some of the making of footage the rest may be realeased later on in the year.
Great video, I was just wondering if the animals used were those from the Jamaica Inn collection or influenced by them.
Beatifull video, almost as beatifull as Hemingway shooting himself, as original as Kerouac, and as demeaning as Bukowski. I love it. Thank you for letting us on here watch it.

yeah, but thom always cited bjork as a major influence of his stuff… so I see it more as a tribute or homage to human behavior… Even the songs sound similar with the prehistoric drumbeats and the layered voices.
