Softrockin’ mp3 of the day from Rory Michael Ganders

This is THE song to listen to when you’re in that softrockin’ mood, when you just can’t take it no more and you slam the door and let your feathered hair feel the cool night breeze, unsure of what’s going to happen next, but positive you’ll be softrockin’ all night long.

Hall and Oates: I can’t Go for That mp3

Rory Michael Ganders is lead singer in the soft-rock group “Populations,” which has never hit the big time but has a lot of soft rockin’ potential.

  1. Too bad Simply Red sampled from the song to make their terrible version called ‘Sunrise’.

  2. seriously, that “sunrise”… and i don’t think i’ve heard one radio dj comment on it. And the guy didn’t sample… he took the whole backing track, used the first verse, and added some chics in bikinis whispering “sunrise”… creative.

  3. I think we can all agree that Hall n Oates ROCKS… softly. And Simply Red simply blows… and what the fuck is up with ‘sampling’ when it’s actually just biting the entire song? wack, y’all. peace.

  4. Comparing the two tracks, the Hall and Oates version and Simply Red version do sound very similar musically, but i wouldn’t say that Simply Red was attempting to outdo the original, rather, a reinvention for a different time and audience.Lyrics are entirely different and definitely more contemporarily executed. If you’ve never listened to the original, it could easily pass for a Simply Red original.
Much respect to Hall and Oates though…it’s a brilliant song.

  5. Man you guys got it all wrong… Hucknall didn’t rip off H&O… he paid to use not 1 but 2 of those famous 80s tunes and he did it in a way that compliments both his and their talents.

Actually if you look at Hucknall’s debut album in 85 and look at the lyrics you will see how deep his roots and soul in life and in music are sewn.

    Peace.

  6. You can always tell the loser folks who think they know what cool is. If you wanna be pissed off that Simply Red samples the H&O song that’s okay, but to say is suck shows you should not be listening to music at all. you have no sense of rythm. Bet you can’t dance either. The song is a banger! Every time it comes on, I have to turn the radio up. You can chill and listen to it and you could rock to it in a club.

  8. I am smarter than all of you combined… I like “sunrise” and also like H&O. It is wonderfully refreshing to hear this “new” version… kind of a fusion of retro and modern. If you don’t like the song, you must not be very intelligent.

    Have a great day!
