If those aren’t death metal vocals, then what are they? I’ve heard other people call it “cookie monster singing” but same thing.

Thanks for your comment, Pietro. It’s nice to see that someone actually read this. I appreciate your pointing out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs error�I did, in fact, know that the album is titled Show Your Bones and that “Gold Lion” is the name of one of the singles off the album; the mistake was a careless error on my part. As for your comment on Mastodon, is there a specific definition of death metal vocals I should know about? Perhaps you can enlighten me.

Sorry for being a dick, but The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s record is called “Show Your Bones”, and Mastodon doesn’t have any death metal vocals.
