USOUNDS Exclusive Download:
The Stations of Abandoned Days

Full of intrigue, mystery, pop sadness (but no sad pop), science, love and honor, the latest gem from Radio Khartoum records offers the promise of the perfect music artifact, and delivers completely.

A dispatch from a darkly stylish yet ambiguous planet somewhere removed from earth but populated by the same human longings, the record is a complete piece, a mood and a language quickly invented yet never forgotten.

Part of the Radio Khartoum imaginary soundtracks series, the album drifts through various scenes and moods, and to break it up via a premiere, ultra exclusive mp3 download seems somehow obscene. And yet the show must always go on-- for every scene du bar, there is a close du bar, and so you might as well get a few drinks in along the way.

The first mp3 comes from Chesty Morgan. According to RK, the group is "an odd collective from Stockholm, the Chesties generally provide their Euro cabaret take on gypsy tunes. Happiest in a live setting, they imported stage, props, costumes and a live audience into Tambourine Studios for their "studio" album on Vibrafon...

The mp3 is the album's opening, an atmospheric whistler that seems to come from the haunting music inside a wandering man's head, but was actually composed for the Danish Film "Svensk Roulette"

The second mp3 is from Cinnamon - "Frida and Jiri - the Bonnie and Clyde of pop - provide us with I Can (Almost) Smell the Sun, a tune that's more about breaking free and finding life again than it is about the relationship that proceeded. Based on Springtime of My Life (from the CDep of the same name on Soap), I Can (Almost) Smell the Sun was refashioned by Cinnamon's friends Sam and Jussi from The Pansies (from Finland) into a song so different everyone agreed the word "remix" would have been misleading." -- RK

The album will be released October 23.
