Jim Noir Tour and MP3

Barsuk records signed UK artist Jim Noir in May. His new album is scheduled for release in August and here is what Barsuk have to say about it:

“Tower of Love is chock full of pop songs with great harmonies and a decidedly ’60s-style psychedelia influence — think Beach Boys, Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles, early Pink Floyd, ELO and a dash of Super Furry Animals.”

So, it seems only natural to hook up some cannabis, psilocybin, mescaline and/or LSD stat, and jam out to the track Key of C. Maybe even trip out on the album cover art if you want.

Tour Dates (Most dates with JtotheEtotheRtotheEtotheMtotheY Enigk):
July 24 Los Angeles, CA – Spaceland (Free show)
July 25 Los Angeles, CA – Spaceland (Free show)
July 27 – San Francisco, CA – Popscene

Music, Food, and God

I enjoy cooking. It’s a fun, creative outlet that sometimes provides edible, and on rare occasions, even delicious results. It is somewhat fraught with disaster though, as it is much easier to produce an average or poor result than to attain culinary nirvana. Poor ingredients, random oversights, bad timing, or general lack of kitchen savviness can easily topple the palatable structure of the meal you’re attempting to create.

Dr Octagon Decipher Series – The Final Chapter

Rob Sonic, Mike Relm, The Gray Kid and the staff of OCD stood behind the front door staring at it. Behind them, staring along with them via webcam were the other members of the Decipher project. It was time for an epic battle, and they all knew it. They wanted to believe from everything that had happened that Dr. Octagon was trying to present mankind a path to a better world, and this pesky alien tribe of Gorillas was trying to prevent him, and so they must fight. But was it all that simple? The facts seemed so confusing. Yet, they knew the time had come…

The Dears on Tour

One of the greatest live bands in this solar system are gonna be back on the road very soon. (Actually, there’s always some cool shit going down on PSR 0329+54 Beta Pictoris which is actually in a different solar system. When there are clouds of gas occultating around from the debris left over from planetary formation, that always makes for an aesthetically kick-ass show.) Check out a full Dears concert from last year in Amsterdam here.

More tour dates on the way soon:
June 25 – London – Wireless Festival
June 26 – London – ICA

ABC Concert Review and Photos by Famed Rock Photog Julz Finley

I hadn’t been to a show in a few months, pretty much because the very few shows that came through town either totally sucked or I got to the venue and there was no place to park. With that said I flipped through the local arts paper and saw that ABC would be playing at The House of Blues, and it was a Friday night nonetheless. Perfect! Now, is this the same ABC I was thinking of? The one with the swank Martin Fry and his gold suit who sung “Poison Arrow”… or was it the other ABC (aka Another Bad Creation) the one with the little kids who were rapping about some girl named “Iesha”. Or… was it some other band that didn’t realize there were already 2 bands called ABC, and named themselves that who were some local act that does Dave Matthews/Creed cover songs? Well… THANK GOD it was my initial guess! The ABC I went to see was the one with Martin Fry, but to be honest, I am not sure how many other original members were present. I didn’t really care, as long as Martin Fry was there!
