Future Appletree Records will be releasing 2 EP’s from Chicago band Tenki this year. The first one should be out by mid May, and the second will be recorded and realeased early fall. Tenki was nice enough to send us some demos. For this, we love them long time:

The Dears’ European label, Bella Union, is offering a free download of a new song called There Goes My Outfit. According to The Dears, “This track is a brand new demo that was recorded just a few weeks ago with Murray on acoustic guitar and vocals. It’s a little taster of the full band version which is currently destined to appear on The Dears’ next full length album set for release later this year.”
Islands sound like a more coherent and/or Canadian version of Animal Collective. Their new album, Return to the Sea will be released April 4th on Equator records. This album is magical, check out a track:
Our old buddies at Pitchfork gave their new record, The Loon, an 8.321 which means it’s great. Not Pixies great, but more like Destroyer great. The band has 3 mp3s available from their website for you to test out on your home hi-fi computer system:
The death metal factor surrounding Eagles of Death Metal would rank at about 5 (out of 500). But this song, I Want You So Hard is still very direct, intense, and energetic, so hopefully band member Josh Homme (from QOTSA) still got some action. Because I’m sure he has a real problem with that…

Someday, Peter Walker will be bigger than Garry Kasparov, whoever that is. His new album, Young Gravity, was produced by Aaron Espinoza of Earlimart and Jim Fairchild of Grandaddy. How could that not be a winning combination? The album is set for release on April 11, 2006 on Dangerbird Records. Here is a pleasant track:
