Animal Collective’s two base members have been creating eccentric music since 1992, but the pack’s roster now includes: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deaken. The Collective’s second FatCat album, “Feels” was released in October of this year.
The song “Grass” from “Feels” is reminiscent of a twangy hoedown competing with shrieking vocals and convulsing guitars. You know, exactly like “Turkey in the Straw” would be on a giant trough of meth. Take that, Ice Cream Man.
Antony and the Johnsons newest album, “I am a Bird Now” features Julia Yasuda, Lou Reed, Devandra Banhart, Rufus Wainwright, and….Boy George? “I am a Bird Now” is a perfect album in that blow-your-brains-out kind of way. Check out AATJ’s latest video for “You Are My Sister.”
