Black Mountain’s self titled album came out earlier this year and people (including our own Chaz Bartok) loved it. The return of rock has taken a heavy, political turn with these Canadians who also work in mental health for the indigent. Rock in the week with these mp3s, including “Druganaut” which calls to mind the classic Sabbath tune “Supernaut” in name if not in style, and features Black Mountain’s trademark male/female vocal assault backed by sludgejumper riffs and detuned pyschjam explosions. The other tune, “Heart of Snow”, shows the band’s mellower, depressive side, with slower but still epic axework.
