Pacific Northwest Singer/Songwriter Rocky Votolato (or, Rocky V, as he his affectionately known at the USOUNDS office) has a new album to be released January 30, 2006 on Barsuk called “Makers.” Check out this gorgeously unpasteurized track from “Makers” called, “White Daisy Passing.”
Supergrass Tour
Supergrass will tear North America a new one this February in support of their fifth full-length album, “Road To Rouen.” Seriously, don’t ever miss The Grass Live. Even if it means giving up your unborn chillen and consequentially leading a dry, sterile, and barren existence.
New Hives DVD
A New Hives DVD called “Tussles in Brussels” will hit stores next Tuesday November 22nd. Check out The Hives’ website for some DVD preview action and related Hives e-card. Because nothing really says Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Xmas like bouncing Hives members.
New Cat Power mp3
The highly anticipated new Cat Power album, “The Greatest” will be released on January 24, 2006 on Matador Records followed by a world tour (with full band!) in early 2006. The title track, “The Greatest” sounds like “Moon River” resurrected, but without all the gay lyrics.
Holy Shit, Even More White Stripes News
Since November seems to be official White Stripes news month, you may find it interesting to know that The Stripes will appear on the Daily Show December 1st, and on Late Night with Conan O’Brien December 2nd.
Also, the fist of the live “Denial Twist” downloads are now available online. Three Quid and Meg have been freestylin’ different versions of the song at each show altering electric guitar, acoustic guitar, marimba, piano, and the didgeridoo. (Which is really weird, but somehow works with this song.)
Laura Veirs Tour and mp3
Catch Seattle singer/songwriter Laura Veirs on tour while you still can. “Galaxies” is a lovely song worthy of your tympanic membranes. Check it:
Animal Collective Video and Tour
Animal Collective’s two base members have been creating eccentric music since 1992, but the pack’s roster now includes: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deaken. The Collective’s second FatCat album, “Feels” was released in October of this year.
The song “Grass” from “Feels” is reminiscent of a twangy hoedown competing with shrieking vocals and convulsing guitars. You know, exactly like “Turkey in the Straw” would be on a giant trough of meth. Take that, Ice Cream Man.
