The Annuals’ new UK EP Big Zeus will be released January 29th in the UK only.  The imaginary US version will be called You Can Suck It Big Time since there really won’t be one.  The EP will include the previously unreleased “Misty Coy” and “Ease My Mind” which was released as the B-side to the Brother 7″ and can be streamed on MySpace.  Also, tour dates with The Dears on Ace Fu.

Rumsfeld and the Kyrgyz leader absolutely adore the letter “E”

”E EATS EVERYTHING,” by THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS
I have a 3-year-old girl. It’s challenging to find music that we can both agree on. She likes Beck, though, so that’s cool. However, it hasn’t taken her too long, upon hearing “Motherfuker” on his Mellow Gold album, to start questioning the lyrics of said song. That’s problematic. That’s why we listen to They Might Be Giants together. They’re creating kids albums these days and even if you don’t have a tot the albums are worth checking out. “E Eats Everything” is on their Here Comes the ABC’s album. No! is an even better album. There’s a song on it about a belligerent broom. And, as a plus, there’s no reference to mother fucking. I’m a good parent.

Get this motherfucking chain off my motherfucking legs!

Directer Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) is brewin’ up a drama/romance called Black Snake Moan starring Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci.  According to IMDB, Jackson plays a God-fearing bluesman who has the love for a wild young woman.  He looks everywhere for love but never quite finds it despite everything being way hotter down in the south and all.  Check out the trailer on MySpace.

The soundtrack includes bluesy songs by The Black Keys, RL Burnside and many by Samuel L. Jackson.  Here’s one now!

Here’s what Merge Records have to say about Neon Bible to be released on March 6th:

Neon Bible is full of both half-assed punk rock mistakes and meticulously orchestrated woodwinds. Processed strings and mandolin. Quiet rumbles and loud rumbles. But mostly just eleven songs that the band thinks are really good!

Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale Review

Nuts + Ale = A fine drinking experience

Until recently, I only took a slight interest in what I call artisan beers. My boyfriend is a former homebrewer of beer and a real fan of your more independent and smaller beers. To me, beer had always been a beverage that I drank with meals or quickly in order to get properly fucked to the curb. And while it tasted good, I was more interested in getting it down my gullet and into my tummy efficiently as opposed to pleasurably. That being said, I’ve had a change of heart! I now truly enjoy drinking beer for its taste and the atmosphere that I enjoy in its presence.
